pecansThis year I have a bumper crop of pecans so we are shelling them, cooking with them and freezing some.  In the past 7 years, we have been in a drought and the birds and squirrels have eaten them and there have been very few left for us.  At any rate, as I sit shelling pecans this year and watching the squirrels and birds eat and store the pecans, I have gleaned some insights that are truly pertinent for all people wanting to grow in life and business leadership. I hope you enjoy them.

All nuts have within them unlimited potential to be an amazing tree which produces an unlimited supply of nuts.  However in order to access their potentiality, their shell must be weakened and they must be buried alive.  Once cracked and buried, they then begin to germinate-absorb all the “living water” and nutrients required to create a new life.  They go through their own metamorphosis. Their outer shell softens opening the way for new life and new insights, new possibilities.

What does this mean for us as leaders?  Great question.

It means that we must be willing to let down our guard, our wall which protects our ideas, beliefs, thoughts, ect. and be open to new insights and ideas.  In so doing, we are able to grow and become more fruitful.
